Wildcraft Camp

Wildcraft Kitchen Summer Camp for Ages 6-8 years

The comprehensive summer camp for ages 6-8 offers a nice variety of food and nature education. Each morning begins with a gentle nature walk where we look at different plants and explore the trails at Foxfire. Students then head to the cookery and herbalism cabins for hands-on activities that give everyone an opportunity to make something from scratch. From bug spray to salve and cornbread to cobbler, by the end of the week, students will have a wonderful selection of handmade goods to take home.

Foxfire is situated on roughly 110 acres, with an interpretive trail connecting to Black Rock Mountain State Park, which includes three mountain springs with waterfalls. Students will have a chance to explore these features and learn about mountain ecology and local habitats. On these hikes, students might see several species of birds, find salamanders in their cool homes, or collect native wildflowers. Encourage your child to unplug this summer and engage in hands-on activities; it’s sure to be a learning experience they’ll never forget!
