About the Event
Have you ever wanted to forage for wild mushrooms but are not sure where to start? Come meander the mountaintop trails at Terra Incognita with us in search of wild mushrooms!
Summer in Northeast Georgia is peak edible wild mushroom season - many different species are popping up in the woods! On our Wildcraft & Wine Wild Mushroom Forays, participants will learn from a Wild Certified Wild Mushroom Food Safety Specialist about the fundamentals of wild mushroom foraging including what trees and terrain to look for, common edible mushrooms of our region, medicinal uses, safety, foraging etiquette, and more. After our walks, we head back to the winery tasting room for a wild mushroom tasting paired with local wine (optional).

This experience is perfect for food and nature lovers (age 12+) who enjoy spending time outdoors and want to learn more about safe, sustainable, and ethical foraging practices...and enjoy some delicious local food and wine! Non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
Terra Incognita is an 125-acre outdoor recreation vineyard and family-owned/operated winery located at 1821 Vandiver Mtn. Rd., Clarkesville, GA.
Note: this is a remote location. You will travel down a 1 mile gravel forest service road before reaching the entrance to the property. Visit www.terraincognitavineyard.com for directions. Do not rely on plug-in dashboard GPS. Google Maps is most reliable.
The trail is considered easy to moderate with a few gradual inclines. On our tours, we move at a gentle pace that is comfortable for everyone.
Suggested items to bring: Participants should feel comfortable walking up to 2 miles. When walking on the wooded trails, we recommend closed-toe shoes with socks and long pants/sleeves to protect against poison ivy and insects. We also suggest that you bring a water bottle, notebook and pen, light rain jacket, brimmed hat, sun protection, bug repellent, walking stick, snacks, and anything else you may need to feel comfortable outdoors.
Dietary preferences: we can accommodate any special diet with advanced notice. Please email wildcraftkitchenga@gmail.com at least two weeks prior to event date.
Disclaimer: Guests must be 21 years or older to consume alcoholic beverages. Please drink responsibly.
