Sold Out! Wildcraft & Wine: Wild Mushroom Foray (SEPT)

Have you ever wanted to forage for wild edible mushrooms but are not sure where to start?   

In this beginners course, participants will have the opportunity to learn from certified wild mushroom food safety specialist, Chef Eric Pitts, about identifying different edible species of fungi that grow in the Southern Appalachian forest. After a brief presentation covering basic information and safety tips, we will hunt the vineyard trails for mushrooms to study. We'll then return to the vineyard pavilion for a wine tasting and wild foods cooking demonstration where you will get to sample what Chef Eric cooks up!

This experience is perfect for food and nature lovers who enjoy spending time outdoors and want to learn more about safe, sustainable, and ethical foraging practices from an expert guide...and enjoy some delicious local food and wine!

Terra Incognita Vineyard is located at 1821 Vandiver Mtn. Rd., Clarkesville, GA.

Note: this is a remote location. You will travel down a gravel road for 7-10 minutes before reaching the vineyard entrance. Visit www.terraincognitavineyard.com for directions. Do not rely on dashboard GPS. Google Maps is most reliable.

Suggested items to bring: Participants should feel comfortable walking up to 2 miles. When walking on the wooded trails, we recommend closed-toe shoes with socks and long pants/sleeves to protect against poison ivy and insects. Please bring a water bottle, notebook and pen, backpack, light rain jacket, bug spray, and anything else you may need to feel comfortable outdoors. 

Dietary preferences: we can accommodate any special diet with advanced notice. Non-alcoholic beverage options are available. Please email wildcraftkitchenga@gmail.com at least two weeks prior to event date.

Inclement weather: This class takes place rain or shine. Covered spaces are available in the event of inclement weather. Only in the event of severe inclement weather, will we contact you to reschedule.
