About the Event
The spring ephemerals are emerging and songbirds are a-migrating as the Southern Appalachian forest springs to life. Come get your eye in on the action with Naturalist, Singer/Songwriter, and Owner of Alarka Expeditions; Angela-Faye Martin. As we walk along the wilderness trail at Terra Incognita, discussions will include flora and fauna interdependence, tree identification, and a brief demonstration on keeping a backyard phenology log – essential skills for every forager to learn!
This tour concludes with a local wine tasting or non-alcoholic refreshment and nature-inspired acoustic tunes by Angela-Faye. Guests must be 21+ to consume alcohol.
We will also serve some wild bites - wild deviled eggs (or potatoes - vegan option) and rainbow spring rolls!
Terra Incognita Vineyard is located at 1821 Vandiver Mtn. Rd., Clarkesville, GA.
Note: this is a remote location. You will travel down a 1 mile gravel USFS road before reaching the entrance to the property. Visit www.terraincognitavineyard.com for directions. Do not rely on plug-in dashboard GPS. Google Maps is most reliable.
Suggested items to bring: Participants should feel comfortable walking up to 2 miles at a gentle pace. When walking on the wooded trails, we recommend closed-toe shoes with socks and long pants/sleeves to protect against poison ivy and insects. Please bring a water bottle, backpack, light rain jacket, bug spray, brimmed hat, and anything else you may need to feel comfortable outdoors. Other helpful tools to bring include: binoculars, loupe or magnifying glass, notebook and pen
